The House met. Present at the call of the roll the following

The proceedings of yesterday were read.
Mr. Daniel asked to be excused from serving on the Commit-
tee on Corporations.
Mr. Harrington presented the petition of a Committee of the
Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of Baltimore, praying the pas-
sage of an act to provide for a uniform system of registration of
births, marriages and deaths, in this State.
Mr. Dorsey presented the petition of James S. Franklin, for
compensation lor the trial of certain cases therein named, in the
Court of Appeals, as Counsel for the State, by the appointment
of the Governor.
Which was referred to the Committee on Claims.
Mr. Timmons presented the petition of sundry members
of the Worcester railroad company, praying the passage of a law
to consolidate the Worcester county railroad company with the
North and South railroad company of Virginia, the Lewis and
Millsborough railroad company of Delaware, and the Raritan and
Delaware bay railroad company of New Jersey,
Which was referred to the Committee on Internal Improvements.
Mr. Wickes presented the petition of James Owens and
Margaret Owens, praying the passage of a law to release James
Owens from confinement in the Allegany county jail,
Which was referred to Messrs. Wicks, Kildow and Tower.
Mr. Lester presented the petition of B. F. Zimmerman, au-
ditor of the city of Baltimore, asking compensation for collecting
taxes due the State,
