Mr. Merrick moved to strike out the words "of a general
character,"

Which was assented to.                                 


The order, as amended, was then adopted.

On motion of Mr. Hall,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to report
a bill repealing the act imposing a tax upon legacies and collate-
ral inheritances and commissions of executors and administrators
under a certain amount.

On motion of Mr. Lester,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to in-
troduce a bill to alter and amend the charter of the Fremont Sa-
vings Institution of Baltimore.

Mr. Partridge offered the following order:

Ordered, That a select committee of              be appointed to

consider the matter of the codification of the laws and the revi-
sion and amendment of legal proceedings, as provided for by the
constitution of this State, to which shall be referred, when they
are presented here, the reports of the commissioners heretofore
appointed to perform these duties: and that such select commit-
tee have instructions to report to this House the progress they
shall make, from time to time, in the consideration of the matters
so referred,

Which was read, and ordered to lie over until to-morrow.

On motion of Mr. Kildow,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Kildow, Wickes and Frey, to
bring in a bill to change the name of the town of Llangollen, in
Allegany county, to that of Bloomington.         

On motion of Mr. Kildow,
The House adjourned until to-morrow morning, at 11 o'clock.
