Which was read and adopted.                               

Mr. Loughridge submitted the following order:                 

Ordered, That the Committee on Ways and Means inquire in-
to the expediency of charging for all acts of incorporation which
may hereafter be granted, a certain tax for the benefit of the gen-
eral School Fund of this State, excepting institutions of Educa-
tion.

Which was read and adopted.                                  

Mr. Partridge presented the petition and remonstrance of
Samuel Dickson and Elizabeth Dickson, against the consent of
the Legislature to the devises of Mary E. A. Reed late of Caro-
line county to the Protestant Episcopal and Methodist Churches
of Greensborough and St. John's Parish.

Ordered to lie on the Clerk's desk to be read when the bill No.
44, is taken up for the action of the House.

Mr. Kennedy Chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means
reported favorably on a bill entitled, an act amendatory of an act
passed January Session 1854, chapter 156 entitled, an act for the
relief of the sureties on the bonds of William Lyles of Thomas,
former Collector for the third collection district of Prince George's
county;

Also a bill entitled, an act to authorize the payment to the
Messrs. Baring, Brothers, and Company of certain moneys ad-
vanced by them on account of the State of Maryland.

Which were read the first time.

Mr. Stone from the Committee on Claims, reported a bill en-
titled, an act appropriating a sum of money to pay William Cooke
and George D. Tewksbury, Commissioners to build a tobacco
warehouse in the city of Baltimore, for their services;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Silver Chairman of the Committee on Corporations re-
ported favorably on a bill entitled, an act amendatory of an act
passed at December Session 1854, chapter 231 entitled, an act
to incorporate the Baltimore Fire Insurance Company to Increase
its capital stock and number of directors.

Mr. Stewart, chairman of the Committee on Lotteries, reported
favorably on a hill entitled, an act for the relief of the Trustees of
the Frederick Female Seminary;                        

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Frazier, chairman on the Committee on Claims, reported
unfavorably on the petition of Philip Reigart praying to be re-
