efit of the people;

Which was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

On motion of Mr. Stack,

Ordered, That it be entered upon the Journal, that Messrs.
Clark, Toadvine, Timmons, Whitby, and Dail, are absent on a
committee by order of this House.

Mr. Smith of Worcester was granted leave to bring in a bill
to incorporate the Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church
at Fork Town, Somerset county.

Mr. Carper from the Committee on Internal Improvements, re-
ported favorably on a bill entitled, a supplement to an act entitled,
an act relating to that portion of the Franklin Rail Road that lies
within the the State of Maryland, providing for the appointment
of Trustees for the resale thereof.

Which was referred to the Committee on Internal Improve-
ments.

Mr. Roberts, from the Select Committee reported favorably on
a bill entitled, an act to increase the pay of labor on the public
roads in Talbot county.           

Mr. Stack from a Select Committee reported favorably on a bill
entitled, an act to authorize Certain Trustees or their successors,
or the survivors of them, to sell and convey the Parsonage House
and lot of the Methodist Episcopal Church in the Greensborough
circuit, and to purchase another parsonage house and lot with the
proceeds of said sale.

Mr. Merrick submitted the following order, which was deter-
mined in the negative;

Ordered, that Washington Elliott be allowed the sum of four
dollars per diem for his services as keeper of the Hall during the
present session.                                                            

Mr. Hall submitted the following order:

Ordered, that the order to fix the salaries of the officers of the
House be and the same is hereby rescinded;               

Mr. Roberts called for the yeas and nays, sustained by five
members, which was determined in the negative by yeas and nays
