TUESDAY, January 29th, 1856.

The House met. Present at the call of the roll the following
members:

Messrs. Speaker, Harris, Griffith, Dorsey, Neff, Wilson of Cal-
vert, Stone, Merrick, Rankin, Wright Cullings, Heath, Lawson,
Frazier, Miller, Brooke, Bowie, Goldsborough, Parker, Smith, of
Worcester, Brengle, Davis, Carper, Grove, Hauver, Wolfe, Du-
vall, Silver, Stack, Kennedy, Smith of Baltimore city. Abbott,
Valiant, Lester, Hugg, Askew, Fiery, Witmer, Reichard, Lough-
ridge, Corby, Harding, Tower, Frey, Smith of Carroll, Buffing-
ton, Rowles, Harrington.                               

The proceedings of yesterday were read.                             

Mr. Heath presented a memorial of Chas. McLean and others,
praying the reduction of tolls and chargers on the "Northern
Central Rail Road Company,"

Which was referred to a Special Committee already to be ap-
pointed.

Mr. Reichard presented a petition of Andrew Hogmire, An-
drew Rentch, and 72 other citizens of Washington county, pray-
ing an increase of five per centum on the taxable property in
Washington county, for the support of Common Schools in said
county;

Which was referred to the Washington county delegation.

Mr. Brengle presented a petition from 100 citizens of Frede-
ick county, praying the Legislature to pass a law or laws, taxing
all the real and personal property throughout the State, of every
description, so that the burden of taxation may bear equally upon
all, and that no property of any kind, be exempted, except such
