tor violation the oyster laws, under the authority and direction of
the Attorney General of the State and his deputies;

Which was referred to the Committee on Claims.
On motion of Mr. Lester,

It was ordered, that leave be granted Passmore McCullough to
Withdraw from the files of the House, the memorial and accompa-
nying papers filed by him at the session of the Legislature of

1849.

On motion of Mr. Waters,

Leave was granted the Anne Arundel county delegation to
bring in a bill to incorporate the stockholders of the Anne Arun-
del county Academy;
On motion of Mr. Stone,

Leave was grunted to the Chares County delegation to intro-
duce a bill to authorize the commissioners of tax for Charles
county to levy for the balance due to Primary School Teachers
for the year 1854;

On motion of Mr. Askew,             

The petition of sundry persons in relation to the removal of the
first toll gate on .the Washington Turnpike, referred to the Com-
mittee on Internal Improvements, was withdrawn therefrom, and
referred to the Committee on Roads.

On motion of Mr. Daniel,

Leave was granted to the Somerset county delegation intro-
duce a bill to pay William J. Byrd, of Somerset county, for pro-
fessional services rendered the State.

Also, leave was granted to the Somerset County delegation to
introduce a bill to revive the act of 1853, chapter 250, creating
a Mutual Insurance Company for Somerset county.

Also, on motion of Mr. Daniel,                         

Leave was granted to the Somerset county delegation to in-

troduce a bill to authorize the bequest of a legacy in, the will of

Sarah Hayward of Somerset county, to the vestry of Somerset

Parish in said county.

On motion of Mr. Kennedy,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Ways and Means to

bring in a bill to repay Barring Brothers & Co., a certain sum of

money by them advanced for the State of Maryland.

Which was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

The Speaker announced the following Standing Committee
