216-U-3 and 216-U-4, to provide for the regulation of the
hours of work for all laborers, workmen or mechanics em-
ployed by the Road Directors for Allegany county, on the
public roads of Allegany county, under the control and juris-
diction of the said Road Directors of Allegany county; to
further provide that a certain rate of per diem wages be paid
to laborers, workmen and mechanics employed, upon said
roads; to provide that persons employed by contractors en-
gaged in work for the Road Directors of Allegany county shall
be considered employees of said Road Directors of Allegany
county; to provide penalties for the violation of the provisions
of this Act, and to provide that no laborers, workmen or me-
chanics, employed directly by the Road Directors of Allegany
county, shall be paid less than two dollars ($2) per diem. "

Section 5 of Article 21 of the Code of Public Laws, title 'Con-
veyancing' relating to acknowledgments without the United

and nays"] [Which was read the first time and referred to the
Committee on Judicial Proceedings. ]
Also House Bill No. 125, entitled "An Act to refund to the
Sherwood Distilling Company, a corporation of the State of
Maryland, a sum of money paid in error to the State Treas-

Also House Bill No. 423, entitled "An Act to amend the Act
entitled 'An Act to incorporate the Preachers7 Aid Society of

Laws of Maryland of 1826, and the re-affirmation of said Act
passed at the January Session of the Legislature of 1858,
