friends throughout the State; coming of a distinguished fam-
ily, her father, but lately deceased, was a county commissioner
and a colonel on the Governor's staff, she made life bright and
happy for her family circle and, with the true hospitality of an
Eastern Shore woman, always delighted in talking about -the
section of the State in which she was born.

We pray that the Lord of all will extend His helping hand
to our brother assemblyman in this his hour of grief and
trouble, and that it will enable him to bear up under his
affliction and take part in the serious work in which we are
engaged for the well-being of the State.

Resolved, further, That this resolution be spread upon the
Journal of the Senate and a copy thereof be properly engrossed
and transmitted by the Secretary of the Senate to Delegate
Lee.

[Which resolution was seconded by Senator Collier. ] [Which
was read and adopted. ]

At 11. 20 o'clock A. M. the Secretary of State appeared and
delivered a message from the Executive.

At 11. 25 o'clock A. M. the Judges of the Court of Appeals
of the State of Maryland appeared.

At 11. 30 o'clock A. M., on motion of Mr. Cooper, the Senate
took a recess until immediately after the inaugural address
in the House of Delegates.

At 11. 55 o'clock A. M. the Senate resumed its session.
Present at roll call the following Senators:

The hour of 12 o'clock M. having arrived, the Hon. Emerson
C. Harrington, Governor-elect, accompanied by his Excellency,
Governor Phillips Lee Goldsborough, the Honorable the Speaker
and the Members of the House of Delegates, the Judges of
the Court of Appeals and the respective committees, appeared
in the Senate Chamber.

The oath of office was then administered by the Hon. A.
Hunter Boyd, Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals, in ac-
cordance with the Constitution of the State of Maryland.
