Also "At the end of line 16, on page. 2 of the printed Bill,
add two new sections, to be known as Sections 2 and 3 and to
read as follows:

'Section 2. And be it further enacted, That it is hereby de-
clared that this law is an emergency law and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health or safety. 5

'Section 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage. ' "

[Which was read and adopted. ] [Which Bill, as amended,
was read the second time and ordered printed for a third
reading. ]

SENATE BILL No. 195, BY MR, BENNETT.

SUBJECT: ADULTERY.

With amendment proposed by the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings as follows:

"Amend by striking out in line 4 of Section 5 all the words
after the word 'fired' in line 3, down to and including the word
'correction' in line 5 of said section, and inserting in lien
thereof the words 'Not more than one hundred dollars, or im-
prisonment for not more than six months in the House of Cor-
rection. ' " [Which was read and adopted. ] [Which Bill, as-
amended, was read the second time and ordered printed for
a third reading. ]

SPECIAL ORDER OF THE DAY.

The President laid before the Senate the Special Order,
being

SENATE BILL No. 242, BY MR. HARRISON.

SUBJECT: A $2, 500, 000 ROAD LOAN.

Amendment proposed by Mr. Allen: "After the last word in
line 41 of Section 7 of the printed Bill, insert the following:
'Provided that two hundred thousand dollars ($200, 000), or
so much thereof as may be necessary, of the said loan shall
be used to complete State roads now partly constructed in
Baltimore county. '"

Amendment proposed by Mr. Ogden: "Amend Section 7,
page 5 of the printed Bill, lines 25 and 26, by striking out the
words 'and maintaining. ' "
