SUBJECT: APPROPRIATIONS FOR SUPPORT OF
STATE GOVERNMENT FOR THE FISCAL YEAR END-
ING ON SEPTEMBER 30, 1918.
Amendment proposed by Committee: "Strike out all after
the words <a Bill, ' and insert in. lieu thereof the following:
'entitled An Act making appropriations for the support of the
State Government for the fiscal year ending on the thirtieth
day of September, 1918.
'Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That for the expenditures in the support of the State
Government for the fiscal year beginning with the first day of
October, 1917, and ending with the thirtieth day of Sep-
tember, 1918, the following sums of money, or so much thereof
as may be necessary, be and the same are hereby appropriated,
that is to say:
'For State Officers—For the, salary of the Governor, four
thousand five hundred dollars; for the salary of the Secretary
of State, two thousand dollars; for the salary of the Chief
Clerk to the Governor, twenty-four hundred dollars; for the
salary of the one clerk to the Governor, two thousand dollars;
for the salaries of two clerks to the Governor, fifteen hundred
dollars each, three thousand dollars; for the salary of the
stenographer to the Governor, twelve hundred dollars; for the
salary of the messenger to the Governor, eleven hundred dol-
lars; for the salary of the Comptroller of the Treasury, twen-
ty five hundred dollars; for the salary of the Chief Clerk to
the Comptroller, twenty-four hundred dollars; for the salary
of one assistant clerk to the Comptroller, two thousand dol-
lars; for the salaries of two assistant clerks to the Comptrol-
ler, seventeen hundred and fifty dollars each, thirty-five hun-
dred dollars; for the salaries of two assistant clerks to the
Comptroller, fifteen hundred dollars each, three thousand
