lion dollars. ($25, 000, 000), for the construction and mainte-
nance of rural post roads in the United States:

WHEREAS, The Bill is now before Congress for Federal aid
for highways used for rural mail service, and

WHEREAS, For the following reasons Maryland is particu-
larly interested in Federal aid for the construction and main-
tenance of rural post roads:

First—Because Maryland is largely an agricultural State
and has a large rural population which is best served by a
system of good roads.

Second—Because Maryland having expended seventeen mil-
lion dollars in the construction of its good roads has created
a demand for greater efficiency in the increasing mail service
and the maintenance and extension of its good roads con-
struction; thus Federal assistance has become necessary.

Third—Because Maryland's valuable and great natural
scenic beauties, with its many mineral deposits and thousands
of acres of good lands, would be much more accessible to
centers of activity and industry.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Senators and Representatives in Congress of Maryland are
hereby requested to use all honorable means to secure the pas-
sage of the Shackleford-Saunders Bill.

Resolved, further, That the Secretary of the Senate of Mary-
land is directed to send a copy of these resolutions properly
certified to the two United States Senators from Maryland,
and the chief clerk of the House of Delegates of Maryland is
ordered to forward a copy of these resolutions to each of the
six members of Congress in the House of Representatives from
Maryland.

REPORTS OF COMMITTEES.

Mr. Speicher, from Select Committee, reported favorably
Senate Bill No. 7, entitled "An Act to repeal Chapter 601 of
the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1914, en-
titled 'An Act to provide for a license tax on dogs to create
a fund to protect the sheep industry in Garrett county. '"

Amendment proposed by Mr. Speicher: "Strike out all of
