CHAPTER 544
(House Bill 623)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 288 (a) of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's County (1953
Edition), title "Prince George's County", sub-title "Circuit Court",
sub-heading "Court Stenographer" providing that a court reporter
may be paid a per diem to be fixed by the Circuit Court for Prince
George's County not to exceed Forty Dollars ($40.00).

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 288 (a) of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince
George's County (1953 Edition), title "Prince George's County", sub-
title "Circuit Court", sub-heading "Court Stenographer", be and the
same is hereby repealed, re-enacted and amended to read as follows:

288 (a) The judges of the Seventh Judicial Circuit of Mary-
land are hereby authorized and directed to appoint one or more
official court reporters for the Circuit Courts of Calvert, Charles,
Prince George's, and St. Mary's Counties, respectively, such reporters
shall be expert stenographers, or otherwise competent to record court
proceedings, shall hold office during the pleasure of the judges of said
respective courts, and shall be paid a per diem to be fixed by the
court not to exceed Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00), and in Prince
George's County not to exceed Forty Dollars ($40.00),
for each and
every day of actual service, together with such expenses as may be
approved by the court, payable by the county treasurer of the county
in the circuit court of which such services shall have been rendered
as a part of the court expenses, upon the presentation of a certificate
of the clerk or any of the judges of said courts, showing attendance
and services of said reporter.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

CHAPTER 545
(House Bill 634)

AN ACT to authorize and direct the County Treasurer of Prince
George's County to pay over to the County Commissioners of the
County, to be credited to the general funds of the County, certain
moneys in the Treasurer's custody and control, which are part of
the proceeds of tax sales made pursuant to the public local laws
of Prince George's County, and relating generally to the procedure
and conditions for such payments.
