during the hours when offices in the Wicomico County courthouse
are open. Except for the provision made in Article 66½ of this
Code, whereby the county treasurer of Wicomico County shall receive
a payment for every set of motor vehicle resgistration plates issued
by him, the said treasurer shall receive no compensation or fees of
any kind other than as provided in this subsection.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of this Act
shall not be construed to extend or apply to the Treasurer in office
on the effective date hereof, but shall take effect with the next term
of office.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

CHAPTER 525
(House Bill 496)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 29-11 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Baltimore County (1958 Edition,
being Article 3 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Baltimore County", sub-title "Title 29. Schools", relating to
the payment of the costs incurred in the transportation of private
school students in Baltimore County and the establishment of new
routes for the transportation of such students.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 29-11 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Baltimore
County (1958 Edition, being Article 3 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Baltimore County", sub-title "Title 29.
Schools", be and is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:

29-11.

The county is hereby authorized and directed to appropriate an-
nually [from any funds received by the county for any general county
purpose and not derived from the tax rate, and/or from any un-
expended balances, a sum not in excess of fifteen thousand dollars
and shall pay the sum so appropriated to the county board of educa-
tion to be used by it] and to disburse the same under the supervision
and direction of the county council such sum or sums as are necessary
to defray any costs incurred by it in carrying into effect the provisions
of the preceding section and for the establishment of new bus routes,
in the discretion of the county board of education for the transporta-
tion to and from school of children attending schools not receiving
state aid [.] , it being the intent of this Act that such new routes
shall be established by the county board of education if the need there-
fore is shown to exist.
The transportation of children to and from
schools not receiving state aid shall be upon such reasonable terms
and conditions as such board of education may from time to time
determine, but in no event shall the amount charged children attend-
