roads", be and it is hereby repealed.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

CHAPTER 78
(Senate Bill 56)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sections 455 and
465 of Article 10 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Dorchester County", sub-title "Roads",
amending the local laws of Dorchester County concerning the
county road engineer, with particular reference to his annual re-
port on work done for the year, and to his schedule of work to be
performed.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 455 and 465 of Article 10 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Dorchester County", sub-
title "Roads", be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted with
amendments to read as follows:

455. The County Road Engineer shall reside in Dorchester Coun-
ty during the term of his office, and shall have charge, control and
supervision of the working, repairing and construction of the public
roads and bridges in said county, and shall make all the specifications
for the building of new roads and bridges, and shall see that no ob-
struction, hindrance or injury is or shall be permitted upon any road
or bridge under his supervision. He shall have charge and control
of all teams, carts, wagons, machinery, implements and accessories
which may be purchased or provided by the County Commissioners
for the purpose of this [Act] sub-title; and shall employ such labor,
teams and implements as may be by him and the County Commis-
sioners deemed necessary in connection with work on public roads
and bridges to be paid for by the County Commissioners. He shall
not work out or expend upon the roads and bridges of said county
a greater amount in any one fiscal year than the amount levied by
the County Commissioners for this purpose without obtaining the
written permission of said County Commissioners. He shall appear
before the Commissioners at the first meeting in each and every
month, and make a statement to them of the work done and money
expended. He shall examine and certify to the correctness of all bills
and accounts for any work done or materials furnished for any of
the public roads or bridges in Dorchester County before the same
shall be paid by the County Commissioners; and the said County
Commissioners shall make no payment until such accounts have been
certified by said engineer. He shall make out annually in writing, a
detailed report of all work done on the county roads and bridges for
the year, together with the names of all persons working on said
roads and bridges, and the amount to which each person is entitled
for such work, and which he has certified as correct, which report
shall be made on or before the 15th day of [May] January for the
