amending the law concerning the allowance to the Sheriff of Wor-
cester County for boarding and keeping prisoners in order to
provide an extra allowance for prisoners working on the public
roads of the County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 294A of Article 24 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Worcester County", sub-title "Sher-
iff", said section having last been amended by Chapter 53 of the
Acts of 1957, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

294A. The Sheriff of Worcester County shall be allowed and the
County Commissioners of Worcester County shall be required to pay
the sum of One Dollar ($1.00) per day for boarding and keeping
each prisoner committed to his custody [, and it] . For every pris-
oner who is working on the public roads of the county, and during
the period of such work, there shall be an additional charge for
board and keep in the amount of sixty cents (60c) each day. It
shall
be the duty of the Sheriff to keep a book at the County Jail in which
he shall keep a correct and full statement or schedule of all prisoners
committed to his custody, showing by what authority, the offense
charged, the time when received and the time of discharge, and the
days spent working on the public roads of the county,
which state-
ment or schedule, together with all books, papers and commitments
kept by him pertaining to prisoners in the Jail, shall at all times be
open to the inspection of the County Commissioners, State's Attor-
ney and Grand Jury, and should the Sheriff neglect or refuse to keep
said book or comply with any of the duties which he is hereby
required to perform, he shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and subject
to indictment, and upon conviction thereof, he shall be fined a sum
not exceeding One Hundred Dollars ($100.00).

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

CHAPTER 72
(Senate Bill 147)

AN ACT to repeal Sections 332, 333 and 334 of Article 24 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Worcester County", sub-title "Stallions", and to repeal said sub-
title, repealing obsolete local laws of Worcester County concern-
ing stallions and the lien for the services of a stallion.
