rules and regulations as may be deemed necessary therefor and as
may be not inconsistent therewith.
In order to carry out the provisions of this sub-title, the State
Board of Agriculture, or its agents and employees, are authorized
to enter during the usual hours of business, any warehouse, store,
building, market or any other place, carrier, conveyance, or vehicle
at, in, or from which any eggs are sold, offered or exposed for sale for
the purpose of determining whether the provisions of this sub-title
or the rules and regulations lawfully promulgated in pursuance
thereof shall have been violated; and in addition, if the Board finds
that eggs are being sold, offered or exposed for sale in violation of
any of the provisions of this sub-title, or of any rule or regulation
promulgated pursuant thereto, it may issue a written or printed
"stop sale" order to the person so acting in violation; and it shall
be unlawful for such person, after receipt of such "stop sale'9 order,
to sell, offer or expose for sale any such eggs with respect to which
such order has been issued. Any person upon whom a "stop sale"
order has been served may appeal to the Board in accordance with
such regulations as the Board may from time to time prescribe.

Any person who violates any of the provisions of this sub-title, or
any rule or regulation made thereunder, or who fails or refuses to
make proper reports, as may be required by the enforcing authority,
or who reports falsely or with intent to deceive in answer to any of
the requirements of this sub-title, or who interferes with said State
Board of Agriculture, its agents or employees, in the enforcement of
the provisions of this sub-title, shall be deemed guilty of a misde-
meanor, and, upon conviction thereof, shall, for the first offense be
subject to a fine of not less than five ($5.00) dollars nor more than
fifty ($50.00) dollars, and for any second or subsequent offense shall
be subject to a fine not less than fifty ($50.00) dollars nor more than
one hundred ($100.00) dollars.

When used in this sub-title: (1) "Person" shall include individual,
partnerships, corporations, companies, societies, cooperatives and
associations. (2) "Retailer" is any person selling to a consumer. (3)
"Consumer" means any person purchasing or otherwise acquiring
eggs for purposes other than for resale, such as a household, restau-
rant, bakery, hotel, inn, hospital or any public or private institution,
organization, transportation company or any camp.
166D.
This sub-title shall be known as the "Maryland Egg Law".
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.
