CHAPTER 467
(House Bill 587)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 209 (c)
of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Natural Resources", sub-title "Birds, Game and Inland Wa-
ter Fish", sub-heading "Game and Fresh Water Fish—Regula-
tions for Taking in Nontidal Waters", to change the season for
using dip nets to take fresh water fish in the waters of certain
counties of the State, and relating to the taking of certain fish in
Washington County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 209(c) of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1957 Edition), title "Natural Resources", sub-title "Birds,
Game and Inland Water Fish", sub-heading "Game and Fresh Wa-
ter Fish—Regulations for Taking in Nontidal Waters", be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as fol-
lows:

209.

(c). It shall be lawful during the open season for any resident of
this State who has secured a resident angler's license to fish by the
use of a dip net in the water of the Susquehanna River in Cecil and
Harford Counties and in the waters of Allegany and Washington
counties, and in the waters of the Monocacy and Potomac Rivers of
Carroll and Frederick counties, from [February 15] January 1, to
April 15, both dates inclusive, except within 50 yards of the mouth
of any tributary or the breast of any dam of said rivers [, and it
shall be lawful to use a dip net for the taking of suckers in the
waters of Washington County from January 1 to April 1, inclusive];
provided, however, it shall be unlawful for any person to use a dip
net in any of the waters of this State which have been stocked with
trout.

It shall be lawful in the waters of Potomac and Monocacy Rivers
within Carroll, Washington and Frederick counties for any resident
of this State who has secured a resident angler's license to use bush-
bobs or bankpoles (not exceeding a total of twenty-five (25) in all
and not exceeding one (1) hook to a pole or bob). It shall be un-
lawful to use bush-bobs or bankpoles on any streams stocked with
trout.

It shall be unlawful to use any bush-bob or bankpole which has
been baited with scale bait or live bait to catch suckers, catfish, carp,
eels, gudgeons, and all species of sunfish, including bluegills, rock
bass, commonly known as redeye.

No person shall use a bush-bob or bankpole except between the
hours of sunset and sunrise.
