CHAPTER 416
(Senate Bill 455)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 3-1 of the
Frederick County Code, 1959 (being Article 11 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Frederick County", sub-
title "Chapter 3. Buildings", to establish the period of validity of
building permits issued in Frederick County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 3-1 of the Frederick County Code, 1959 (being Article
11 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Frederick
County", sub-title "Chapter 3. Buildings", be and it is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

8-1.

All persons, before erecting or repairing any building in the coun-
ty at an expense of two hundred and fifty dollars or more shall be
required to give dimensions and estimated cost and secure a permit
in writing from the board of assessment of the county before start-
ing such work. All permits shall be issued free of cost and shall be
valid for a period of two years from the date of issuance. Any person
failing to comply with this section shall, upon conviction, be fined not
less than ten dollars nor more than one hundred dollars and costs
for each offense.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

CHAPTER 417

(Senate Bill 456)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 9 (31) of
Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1960 Supplement),
title "Revenue and Taxes", sub-title "What Shall Be Taxed and
Where", to provide for a tax exemption for the property of the
Queen Anne's County Historical Society, AND THE WICOMICO
HISTORICAL SOCIETY, INC., and to abate certain delinquent
taxes owed by the said society. QUEEN ANNE'S HISTORICAL
SOCIETY.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
