Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 50A be and it is hereby added to the Code of Public
Local Laws of Charles County (1959 Edition, being Article 9 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Charles County",
sub-title "County Commissioners", to follow immediately after Sec-
tion 50 thereof, and to read as follows:
50A.
(a) The County Commissioners of Charles County are hereby
authorized and directed to provide for the maintenance, operation
and supervision of a central communications facility for Charles
County. This facility shall be manned and operated by competent per-
sonnel twenty-four hours a day on each and every day of the year.
(b) The Commissioners are authorized and directed to employ
such personnel for the facility and to pay such salaries as they deem
necessary.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.
SEC. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT THIS ACT
IS HEREBY DECLARED TO BE AN EMERGENCY MEASURE
AND NECESSARY FOR THE IMMEDIATE PRESERVATION
OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY, AND HAVING BEEN
PASSED BY YEA AND NAY VOTE SUPPORTED BY THREE-
FIFTHS OF THE MEMBERS ELECTED TO EACH OF THE TWO
HOUSES OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, THE SAME SHALL
TAKE EFFECT FROM THE DATE OF ITS PASSAGE.

(Senate Bill 483)
AN ACT to repeal Sections 49 and 50 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Charles County (1959 Edition, being Article 9 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Charles County", sub-title
"County Commissioners"; and to repeal Section 61 (b) of the said
Code, sub-heading "Miscellaneous Appropriations"; and to repeal
Sections 120 and 121 of the said Code, sub-title "Fire Companies";
and to enact new Sections 120 and 121, in lieu thereof to stand in
the place of the Sections 120 and 121 repealed; and to repeal and
re-enact, with amendments, Section 122 of the said Code, and to add
new Section 122A to the said Code, to follow immediately after
Section 122 thereof, to repeal obsolete and conflicting provisions
concerning payments and appropriations to volunteer fire com-
panies in Charles County and to provide for the appropriations by
the County to fire companies and rescue squads in the county and
to authorize the county to maintain and operate a rescue squad.
