are hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments to read as
follows:

135. The judges of the first judicial circuit of this State are
hereby authorized and empowered to employ [a] competent stenog-
raphers to serve in the respective courts of said circuit.

137. [The stenographer appointed under this Act shall serve for
one year or until his successor shall be appointed by the judges afore-
said, but shall be removable at any time at the pleasure of said
judges.] The stenographer so to be appointed shall be an officer of
the court and shall perform such duties as may be imposed upon him
by the judges of said court or either of them, and shall be required
to furnish typewritten or printed copies to the attorneys of the
court as the court may prescribe and direct.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

CHAPTER 17

(Senate Bill 29)

AN ACT to repeal Sections 138,139,140 and 141 of Article 10 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Dorchester County", sub-title "Circuit Court", sub-heading "In-
dexes", repealing certain old and unnecessary laws of Dorchester
County relating to the indexing of records in the office of the Clerk
of the Circuit Court of Dorchester County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 138, 139, 140 and 141 of Article 10 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Dorchester
County", sub-title "Circuit Court", sub-heading "Indexes", be and
they are hereby repealed.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.
