1959, Ch. 249—Fifth, Sixth and Twenty-Ninth Districts,

Allegany County
Executive Department
Annapolis, Maryland

Office of the Secretary of State of Maryland
To the Clerk of the Court of Appeals:

I, Thomas B. Finan, Secretary of State of the State of
Maryland, pursuant to the direction contained in Section 172 of
Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
DO hereby certify, that at a Special Election held in Allegany County,
Maryland, on August 18, 1959, an Act known as Chapter 249 of the
Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1959 was submitted to
the voters of the 5th, 6th and 29th Election Districts of Allegany
County, for their adoption or rejection under the provisions of Chapter
249 of the Acts of 1959, said Act being as follows:

"An Act to add 4 new sections to the Code of Public Local Laws
of Allegany County (1955 Edition), being Article 1 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title 'Allegany County', sub-
title 'Fire Companies', said new sections to be known as Sec-
tions 148A to 148D, inclusive, to follow immediately after
Section 148 of said Article and to be under the new sub-heading
'LaVale Fire Area', relating to the creation of the 'LaVale Fire
Area' and to the levy of a special fire tax on parts of Election
Districts Nos. 29, 5 and 6 in Allegany County, comprising said
'LaVale Fire Area', and providing for a referendum thereon."

and I DO certify, that at said election held in Allegany County,
276 votes were cast in favor of the adoption of Chapter 249 of the
Acts of 1959 and 633 votes were cast against the adoption thereof, and,
a majority of votes being cast against the adoption of the said Chap-
ter 249 of the Acts of 1959, the same has failed of ratification.

In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my
name and affixed my Official Seal at the City of
Annapolis, this 25th day of July, 1960.
