I, Thomas B. Finan, Secretary of State of the State of
Maryland, pursuant to the direction contained in Section 172 of
Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, (1957 Edition), Do
Hereby Certify, that at the General Election held in the State of
Maryland on November 8, 1960, an Act known as Chapter 743 of the
Acts of 1959, was submitted to the voters of the State of Maryland,
pursuant to the provisions of Article 14 of the Constitution of the
State of Maryland, said Act being as follows:
"An Act to propose an amendment to Sections 6 and 7 of Article
2 of the Constitution of Maryland, title 'Executive Department',
providing for succession to the office of Governor of this State
in the event of certain specified contingencies, relating general-
ly thereto, and providing for the submission of this amendment
to the legal and qualified voters of this State for their adoption
or rejection."
and I DO certify, that at said election 348,283 votes were cast
in favor of the adoption of Chapter 743 of the Acts of 1959, and
81,128 votes were cast against adoption of said Chapter 743 of the
Acts of 1959, the said Act has therefore been ratified by a majority of
the qualified voters of the State of Maryland.
In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my
name and affixed my official seal at the City of
Annapolis this 20th day of December, 1960.
