J. MILLARD TAWES, GOVERNOR 1739
Whereas, the problem of beach and shore erosion in the State
of Maryland has assumed alarming proportions; and
Whereas, lack of action on the part of the governmental agencies
of this State may result in the loss of much of the State's valuable
public beaches and of its shoreline; and
Whereas, failure on the part of the State to establish an official
agency to deal with the problem of beach and shore erosion and to
work in conjunction with the Beach and Shore Erosion Commission
of the Federal Government may have the result of preventing Mary-
land from qualifying for the benefits provided by said Federal agency;
now therefore, be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Legis-
lative Council be requested to appoint a sub-committee to study the
problem of beach and shore erosion and the need for establishing a
State agency to deal with said problem; and be it further
Resolved, That said sub-committee submit a report of its study
and any recommendations to the Governor, the Legislative Council
and the members of the General Assembly by October 15, 1961.
Approved May 3, 1961.
No. 41
(House Joint Resolution 59)
House Joint Resolution to request reappointment of the Governor's
Committee on Migratory Bird Laws to serve as an advisory com-
mittee to the Game and Inland Fish Commission.
Whereas, Pursuant to Joint Resolution 34 of 1959 (House Joint
Resolution No. 32) the Governor appointed a committee representa-
tive of all geographical areas of the state to consider uniformity in
Federal and State laws and regulations governing the hunting of mi-
gratory birds, such committee completed its work and has reported
to the Governor and the General Assembly; and
Whereas, Because of the splendid work done by the Committee, it
would be desirable to reappoint the committee to serve as an ad-
visory committee to the Game and Inland Fish Commission, by study-
ing wildlife and inland fish matters and submitting recommendations
to the Game and Inland Fish Commission; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Gover-
nor of Maryland is requested to reappoint the Migratory Bird Law
Commission previously appointed under Joint Resolution 34 of 1959
with a composition similar to that called to under Joint Resolution 34,
namely, one member of the General Assembly, the Director of the
Game and Inland Fish Commission, and one representative each
from: the Associated Sportsmen's Clubs of the Eastern Shore, the
Central Association of Sportsmen's Clubs, the Western Association
