and further provided, that the portion of said salary to be paid by
the State shall be limited to the amount prescribed in the schedule
set forth in Section 237 of this article.] Baltimore County, Mary-
land, shall be authorized and directed to levy and pay [assessors]
each assessor of Baltimore County [an annual] a salary ranging
from [$5,500.00 to $6,500.00] $6,000.00 to $7,500.00 per year, re-
ceiving one fifth of the differential at the end of each of the first five
years of service; provided, however, that service of assessors as such
prior to June 30, [1959] 1961, shall be taken into consideration for
such purposes and provided further that the portion of said salary
to be paid by the State shall be limited to the amount provided in
the schedule set forth in Section 237 of this article. Baltimore
County, Maryland, shall be authorized and directed to levy and pay
to [the assessors' aides] each assessor's aide of Baltimore County a
salary ranging from [$4,500.00 to $5,000.00] $5,000.00 to $5,500.00
per year, receiving one half of the differential at the end of each of
the first two years of service, provided, however, that service of
assessors' aides as such prior to June 30, [1959] 1961, shall be taken
into consideration for such purposes and provided further that the
portion of said salary to be paid by the State shall be limited to the
amount provided in the schedule set forth in Section 237 of this article.

239.   Same—Assistant supervisor of assessments.

The [executive officer] County Executive of Baltimore County
[may] shall upon recommendation of the supervisor of assessments
designate one of the county assessors as assistant supervisor of
assessments and Baltimore County, Maryland, shall be authorized
and directed to levy and pay said assistant supervisor of assessments
an annual salary ranging from [$7,000.00 to $8,500.00] $9,000.00
to $11,000.00, provided that the portion of said salary to be paid by
the State shall be limited to the amount prescribed in the schedules
of assessors' salaries as set forth in Section 237 of this article. A
person holding the position of assistant supervisor of assessments
shall cover the salary range between the minimum and maximum
figures in five years, receiving one fifth of the differential at the end
of each of the five years, provided, however, that service prior to
June 1, [1959] 1961, shall be taken into consideration for such pur-
pose.

240.   Same—Supervisor of Assessments.

Baltimore County, Maryland, shall be authorized and directed to
levy and pay to the supervisor of assessments of said county an annual
salary ranging from [$9,500.00 to $12,000.00] $18,000.00 to
$15,000.00, provided, however, that the portion of said salary to be
paid by the State shall be limited to the amount as prescribed in the
schedules set forth in Section 236 of this article. A person holding
the position of supervisor of assessments of Baltimore County shall
cover the salary range between the minimum and maximum figures
in five years receiving one-fifth of the differential at the end of each
of the five years, provided, however, that service prior to June 1,
[1959], 1961, shall be taken into consideration for such purpose.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1961.
