CHAPTER 163
(House Bill 52)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 12 (b) of
Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title
"Elections", sub-title "General Powers and Duties of Supervisors
of Elections", to specify the time in Baltimore City when the
Board of Supervisors of Elections shall publish notices of Elections.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 12 (b) of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1957 Edition), title "Elections", sub-title "General Powers
and Duties of Supervisors of Elections", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

12.

(b) Baltimore City.—In Baltimore City, such notice as prescribed
in sub-section (a) of this section shall be given within five (5) days
BEFORE the date of the election by advertisement in all the daily
newspapers, AND IN ONLY DAILY NEWSPAPERS, which will
publish the same at their current rate for commercial advertising.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1,1961.

Approved March 23, 1961.

CHAPTER 164

(House Bill 92)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 238,
239 and 240, of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1960 Supplement), title "Revenue and Taxes", sub-title "State
Tax Commission", relating to the salaries of assessors, assessors'
aides, the Assistant Supervisor of Assessments, and the Super-
visor of Assessments, in Baltimore County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 238, 239 and 240 of Article 81 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1960 Supplement) title "Revenue and Taxes", sub-title
"State Tax Commission" be and they are hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

238. Salaries in Baltimore County—Assessors and assessors' aides.

[Baltimore County shall be authorized and directed to levy and
pay to the assessors of Baltimore County an annual salary of not
less than $4,000.00 per year, with automatic increases of $200.00
each year for a period of five years; provided, however, that service
prior to June 1, 1957, be taken into consideration for such purpose;
