COUNTY TO LEVY AND COLLECT FOR THE USE OF THE
STATE'S ATTORNEY OF THE COUNTY, THE AMOUNTS OF
MONEY CERTIFIED BY THE STATE'S ATTORNEY AS AFORE-
SAID, TO BE PROPERLY CHARGEABLE BY THE STATE'S
ATTORNEY OF THE COUNTY, AND AT THE SAME TIME AND
IN THE SAME MANNER THAT OTHER COUNTY TAXES ARE
LEVIED AND COLLECTED.
2-11. Oath of assistants, etc.
Any clerk or other employee appointed by the State's Attorney
[under the provisions of Section 2-8 of this Code], and the assistant
state's attorneys, shall, before entering upon the duties of their
offices, take and subscribe before a judge or the clerk of the circuit
court for the county, an oath that he or she, as the case may be, will
keep secret all matters and things pertaining to the state's attorney's
office.
40. (d) Baltimore County,
(1) The State's Attorney's salary is $13,500 annually, to be paid
in equal bi-weekly installments.
(2) The State's Attorney may SHALL appoint a deputy state's
attorney with a salary of not less than $9,000.00 annually to be paid
in equal bi-weekly installments.
The deputy state's attorney shall perform such work as directed
by the State's Attorney or as authorized by law.
(3) The State's Attorney may SHALL appoint five assistant State's
Attorneys. Until December 31, 1961, the salary of each of the assist-
ant state's attorneys shall not exceed $6,000.00.
Beginning as of January 1, 1962, the THE salary of each of the
assistant state's attorneys shall be no less than $6,500.00 annually, to
be paid in equal bi-weekly installments. The several assistant state's
attorney shall perform such work as directed by the State's Attorney,
or as authorized by law.
(4) The State's Attorney may appoint such clerical and other
assistants as in his judgment may be necessary for the proper con-
duct of his office, at such compensation as he may deem proper, to
be paid by the county on the certification of the State's Attorney.
Such clerical and other assistants shall perform clerical and other
work as directed by the State's Attorney.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That nothing in this Act shall
be construed or applied to change the compensation of the State's
Attorney for Baltimore County who is in office on June 1, 1961, for
the remainder of the term in which he then is serving. The increase
in compensation herein provided for the State's Attorney of Balti-
more County shall first take effect at the beginning of the term of
the State's Attorney who is elected to that position in the month of
November, 1962.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.
