under this subheading shall have such license revoked unless within
six years from the receipt thereof he or she has become a citizen of
the United States.

407.

If any person shall solicit, advertise, or represent himself or her-
self to the public as a tree expert, [as qualified to do any type of tree
culture or care and as having received a license as provided for in
this subheading,] or. shall assume to practice as a [licensed certified]
tree expert without having received [such] a license, as provided for
in this subheading,
or if any person having received such license shall
thereafter lose the same by revocation or have the effect of the same
suspended as provided for in this subheading and shall continue to
practice as a [licensed certified] tree expert, or if any person shall
use such title, or the abbreviation "L. [C] T.E." or any other words,
letters, or abbreviations tending to indicate that such person is a
licensed [certified] tree expert or a tree expert without having re-
ceived [such] a license, as provided for in this subheading, or when
such license has been revoked or suspended, such person shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall
be punished for each offense by fine not exceeding five hundred dollars
($500.00) or by imprisonment not exceeding six months, or by both
fine and imprisonment, in the discretion of the court. Nothing in
this subheading shall be construed [to prevent] as imposing any
penalty upon
the owner of any tree or trees [from employing] who
employs
any person to trim the same. [The purpose of this subhead-
ing is to make it unlawful for any person to hold himself out or
misrepresent himself as a licensed certified tree expert unless he is
licensed under this subheading.]

408.

The Commission may, in its discretion, [register the] issue and
grant a license
[of] or otherwise authorize practice as a tree expert
in Maryland to
any person [who is not a resident of this State and]
who is a lawful holder of a [licensed certified] tree expert license
under the laws of another state which extends similar privileges to
licensed [certified] tree experts of this State; provided, the require-
ments [of] for said [degree] license in the said state which has
granted it [to the applicant] are, in the opinion of the Commission,
at least equivalent to those [herein] provided for in Maryland.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.
