mediately after Section 277 (m) thereof, to authorize the County
Commissioners of Queen Anne's County to increase the rate of
the recordation tax applicable therein.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 277 (n) be and it is hereby added to Article 81 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1960 Supple-
ment), title "Revenue and Taxes," sub-title "Recordation Tax," to
follow immediately after Section 277 (m) thereof, and to read as
follows:
277.
(n) Notwithstanding the provisions of this section, the County
Commissioners of Queen Anne's County in lieu of the rate of tax
provided in sub-section (b) above, are authorized by resolution to
adopt a rate of tax as follows: In the case of instruments conveying
title to property, the tax shall be at the rate of $1.10 for each $500.00
or fractional part thereof of the actual consideration paid or to be
paid; and in the case of instruments securing a debt, the tax shall
be at the rate of $1.10 for each $500.00 of the principal amount of
the debt secured. Immediately upon taking any such action, the
County Commissioners of Queen Anne's County shall certify such
action to the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Queen Anne's County and
to the State Comptroller.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 108 (7)
of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Justices of the Peace", sub-title "Trial Magistrates System",
to raise the salary of a trial magistrate in Cecil County, to provide
an additional magistrate and to impose certain qualifications and
restrictions on trial magistrates in the county.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 108 (7) of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1957 Edition), title "Justices of the Peace", sub-title "Trial
Magistrates System", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
