shall not provide, and such commissioner shall not receive, in the
aggregate annually, for such expense allowance or compensation, an
amount greater than twenty-five hundred ($2500.00) dollars for such
presiding officer or an amount greater than two thousand ($2000.00)
dollars for any one of the other commissioners-; AND THE PRO-
VISIONS HEREIN FOR EXPENSE ALLOWANCES OR ADDI-
TIONAL COMPENSATION SHALL BE OF NO EFFECT FROM
AND AFTER DECEMBER 4, 1962. THE COUNTY COMMIS-
SIONERS MAY BY RESOLUTION APPOINT AN ADMINISTRA-
TIVE ASSISTANT TO ASSIST THE PRESIDING OFFICER IN
THE SUPERVISION OF THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATION AT
SUCH COMPENSATION AS THE COMMISSIONERS MAY DE-
TERMINE, TO PERFORM SUCH DUTIES AS MAY BE AS-
SIGNED BY THE PRESIDING OFFICER OR THE BOARD BY
SPECIAL RESOLUTION.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 655 (b)
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's County (1953
Edition), being Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland, title "Prince George's County", sub-title "Fire Com-
panies" relating generally to the fire tax rate in a certain portion
of the 16th Election District.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 655 (b) of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince
George's County (1953 Edition), being Article 17 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's County", sub-
title "Fire Companies", be and the same is hereby repealed, re-enacted
and amended to read as follows:
655 (b). The County Commissioners of Prince George's County
are hereby authorized and directed to levy for the year 1954 and
annually thereafter a fire tax of ten cents on every One Hundred
Dollars ($100.00) of the assessed value of all real and personal
property located in each of said election districts [except that; AND,
BEGINNING WITH THE CALENDAR YEAR 1962, a fire tax of
seven TEN cents on every One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) of the
assessed value of all real and personal property SHALL be levied
on said property located within the corporate boundaries of the
said Town of Edmonston in the 1st Precinct of the 16th Election
District].
