Board shall have the further power to approve or disapprove any
part-time employment of any deputy sheriff.
(2) The County Commissioners of Charles County are hereby
authorized to provide such equipment and other personnel as may
be requested by the Sheriff for law enforcement at an annual cost
[not to exceed] of not less than $25,000 and such additional sums as
the Commissioners deem necessary. Such equipment and personnel
shall consist of
a. Not more than four new automobiles.
b. Radio equipment; not more than four radio operators and
committing magistrates.
c. Operating expenses of automobiles, radio equipment, office
supplies and other necessary equipment and supplies.
d. Insurance.
(h) (5) Any special deputies shall be appointed only with the
approval of the County Commissioners and shall receive such com-
pensation as the Commissioners may determine. No special deputy
shall wear a uniform that is similar to that worn by a deputy sheriff,
subject to the penalty provided in paragraph k above.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted. That the provisions of this Act
shall not be construed to extend or apply to the Sheriff in office on
the effective date hereof, but shall take effect with the next term of
office.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 37 (t) of
Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1960 Supplement),
title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Compensation and Duties", and to add
new Sections 507 A through 507F, inclusive, to Article 21 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Talbot County", sub-title "Sheriff", to follow immediately after
Section 507 thereof, relating to the appointment and salaries of the
sheriff and deputy sheriffs of Talbot County, expenses of and appro-
priations for the sheriff's office, living quarters and county jail,
providing for a tax levy to pay such expenses, and relating generally
to the organization, control and duties of the sheriff's office in
Talbot County.
