AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 277 (m)
of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1960 Supple-
ment), title "Revenue and Taxes", sub-title "Recordation Tax", to
increase the rate of the recordation tax applicable in Worcester
County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 277 (m) of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1960 Supplement), title "Revenue and Taxes", sub-title "Recor-
dation Tax", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
277.
(m) The rate of tax applicable to instruments recorded with the
clerk of the Circuit Court for Montgomery, Harford, St. Mary's,
Worcester and Anne Arundel Counties shall be as follows:
In the case of instruments conveying title to property, the tax
shall be at the rate of $1.10 for each $500 or fractional part thereof
of the actual consideration paid or to be paid; in the case of instru-
ments securing a debt, the tax shall be at the rate of $1.10 for each
$500 of the principal amount of the debt secured.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

(Senate Bill 504)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 37 (w) of
Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1960 Supplement),
title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Compensation and Duties", relating to
the compensation, and allowance AND EQUIPMENT of the sheriff
and of the deputy sheriffs in Worcester County and providing for
the effect of this Act.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 37 (w) of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1960 Supplement), title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Compensation
and Duties", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

(w) (1) The sheriff of Worcester County shall receive an annual
