19.

(1) The justices of the peace in and for Baltimore City and
Calvert, Prince George's and Charles Counties (except traffic court
magistrates), in any case within their jurisdiction, shall have power,
before conviction of any person accused of crime, with the written
consent of the person so accused, and after conviction or after plea
of guilty or of nolo contendere, without such consent, to: (a) sus-
pend that imposition of sentence; (b) place such person on probation
before commitment; (c) and in all such cases above named to make
such written conditions of suspension of sentence and probation as
said justices of the peace may deem proper; and (d) upon determin-
ing that such person has violated any such condition, to strike out
the suspension of sentence and to impose such sentence as may be
authorized by law and to revoke such probation.
The provisions of
this section shall also apply to St. Mary's County. Provided, however,
in St. Mary's County any person placed on probation shall be under
the supervision of the State Department of Parole and Probation.

In Calvert County any person may be placed on probation under the

supervision of the State Department of Parole and Probation.

108.

(4) There shall be one trial magistrate for Calvert County who
shall be either a graduate of a law school within the State, or ad-
mitted to the practice of law in the State, and who shall sit at Prince
Frederick and at North Beach. The magistrate shall receive an
annual salary of three thousand dollars ($3,000.00) and an allow-
ance of one thousand four hundred dollars ($1,400.00) annually for
expenses reasonably necessary in the performance of his duties; such
allowance to be in lieu of the traveling expenses provided in Section
113 herein. The magistrate shall keep separate dockets with respect
to all cases and forfeitures relating to violations of the ordinances of
North Beach and Chesapeake Beach respectively and all fines, penal-
ties, forfeitures and costs collected by him in connection with such
municipal violations shall be paid by him to the treasurer of North
Beach with respect to violations of municipal ordinances of that
municipality, and to the treasurer of Chesapeake Beach with respect
to violations of the municipal ordinances of that municipality, such
payments to be made not later than the tenth day of each month with
respect to collections received by him during the month preceding.

97A. Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 97 above, in
Calvert County, there shall be appointed not more than four justices
of the peace known as committing magistrates, one for North Beach,
one for Solomons and not more than two for Prince Frederick.

110. Justices of the peace other than trial magistrates shall be
paid by the County Commissioners, as full compensation for their
official acts and services in civil and criminal cases, the sum of
$20.00 annually, but in Anne Arundel County they shall receive
$200.00 annually and shall post a sign on their place of business or
residence indicating their official office, and in Kent, Talbot and
Queen Anne's Counties shall receive annually the sum of $50.00 and
in Washington County they shall receive the sum of $100.00 annually,
in Howard and Harford Counties they shall receive the sum of
$200.00 annually, and in Carroll County they shall receive the sum
of $180.00 annually, and in Baltimore County as provided for in
