LXXX

new church on the fame ground, or on the glebe-land, or on any ground which
faid veftry fhall be able to purchafe, or fhall be prefented to them for the purpofe
of building a new church upon, not exceeding the quantity of two acres, and
not diftant from the prefent church more than two miles; and the faid petition
being thought reasonable,

II. Be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That the veftry of
Saint-Peter's parifh, in Talbot county, fhall have full power and authority to
pull down or rebuild the old church in faid parifh, as the faid veftry, or a ma-
jority of them, fhall think moft for the intereft and advantage of the parifhioners ;
and that they fhall have power to purchafe any quantity of land, not exceeding
two acres, or to receive the fame from any perfon who may choofe to prefent the
fame for the purpofe of building a church upon; provided the fame fhall not be
further diftant than two miles from the place where the old church ftands.

III. And be it enacted, That the new church, when built, with the pews
therein, fhall be vefted in the veftry of the faid parifh for the purpofe of renting
the faid pews for the fupporting the minifter, and for employing a clerk and
fexton for faid parifh.

IV. And be it enacted, That the juftices of Talbot county court be and they
are hereby required, at their next court, to proceed as is required by an act of
affembly paffed in the year of our Lord feventeen hundred and four, chapter
thirty-eighty to afcertain the bounds of the church and chapel grounds in faid,
parifh.

C H A P. LXXXI.

An ACT to enable the regifter of Calvert county to record cer-
tain proceedings in the records of the orphans court of the faid
county.

Preamble.

WHEREAS by the reprefentation of the juftices of the orphans court
of Calvert county it appears, that by the neglect of the late regifter,
Francis King, the wills and accounts fince the year feventeen hun-
dred and ninety-two, the inventories fince the year feventeen hundred and ninety,
and the bonds fince the year feventeen hundred and ninety-four, have not been
recorded, but remain in a ruinous fituation, by means whereof the titles of many
eftates in the faid county were rendered precarious: And whereas it further ap-
pears, that the faid regifter has neglected in many cafes to enter the certificate or
probat in the ufual form on many of the laft wills, inventories and accounts, in
the faid, office, although the fame were regularly proved agreeably to law; for
remedy whereof,

II. And be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That the regifter

of wills for, Calvert county be and he is hereby authorifed and empowered to re-
cord, in a book or books by him to be provided for that purpofe, all the wills,
accounts, inventories and bonds, which were in the cuftody of the faid Francis
King at the time of his death, and which remained unrecorded; and the faid
wills, accounts, inventories and bonds, when fo recorded, fhall be, to all intents
and purpofes, as valid as if the fame had been, done by the faid Francis King in
his life-time.

In certain

III. And be it enacted, That in all cafes where the faid regifter Francis King
has made any. fhort entry, fhewing that any laft will or teftament, inventory or
was proved by any perfon or perfons, or has lodged any laft will or
teftament, inventory or account, among the records of his faid office, it fhall

and may be lawful for the faid regifter, under the direction of the orphans court
of the faid; county, to enter thereon a certificate of fuch probat in the ufual
form, and fuch certificate, fo, made, fhall be, to all intents and purpofes, as

good and available, as if the fame had been, done by the faid Francis King in his
life-time.
