1797.

C H A P. LXXVII.

An ACT to regulate the time of holding the orphans courts in
Dorchefter county, and to repeal part of the act of affembly
therein mentioned.

Paffed Janua-

ry 20.

Be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That the orphans
courts in Dorchefter county fhall hereafter be held on the fecond Tuefdays
in June, Auguft, October, December, February and April, yearly, or
oftener, if need be, by adjournment.

When courts
are to be held.

II. And be it enacted, That the third fection of the act paffed at February
feffion, one thoufand feven hundred and eighty-fix, entitled, An act to revive and
continue the proceedings of the orphans court of Dorchefter county, be and the
fame is hereby repealed.

C H A P. LXXVIII.

An ACT to empower the veftry of Shrewfbury parifh, in Kent
county, to fell the glebe-land belonging to the fame.
WHEREAS the veftry of Shrewfbury parifh, of Kent county, have
petitioned this general affembly for a law empowering them to fell
the glebe-land belonging to faid parifh, for the purpofe of purchafing
other land in a more convenient and advantageous fituation, and alfo to enable
faid veftry to repair the church and chapel in faid parifh, which are in ruinous
condition; and have reprefented to this general affembly, that the faid veftry
poffefs no funds to defray the expence of repairing faid church and chapel; there-
fore,

Preamble.

II. Be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That the veftry of
faid parifh be and they are hereby empowered to fell faid glebe-land, and to ap-
ply fuch part of the money arifing from the fale thereof as they deem pro-
per to the purchafe of other land for the ufe of faid parifh, and the furplus to
the reparation of faid church and chapel, provided neverthelefs, that the faid
veftry give three months previous notice, by advertisements ftuck up at the court-
houfe door for faid county, and one at each door of the church and chapel re-
fpectively, of the time and place of fale.

C H A P. LXXIX.
An ACT to make a temporary allowance to the judges of the
court of appeals, in addition to their permanent falaries.

Paffed Janua-
ry 20.

Be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That each of the judges
of the court of appeals fhall be entitled to receive three hundred dollars,
in addition to their permanent falaries fixed by law.

II. And be it enacted, That the faid fums fhall be paid at the fame time, and
in the fame manner, during the continuance of this act, as their permanent fala-
ries are by law directed to be paid.

III. This act to continue and be in force until the twentieth day of October,
eighteen hundred, and until the end of the next feffion of affembly that fhall
happen thereafter.

Duration.

C H A P. LXXX.
An ACT to empower the veftry of Saint-Peter's parifh, in Talbot
county, to rebuild or to pull down the old church, and build
a new one, and for other purpofes.

ry 20.

WHEREAS it is reprefented to this general affembly, by the petition of
the veftry of Saint-Peter's parifh, in Talbot county, that, the old
church in faid parifh is in a ruinous fituation, and have prayed that
an act may pafs to enable them to rebuild or to pull down the fame, and build a
