Products Made By the Blind
30A.

(a) It is unlawful for any person, association, or corporation, to
sell, or offer to sell, to the public any merchandise or other products
of any nature, which are represented to be products made by the
blind, unless the merchandise or other products have been actually
made or manufactured by blind persons as defined in this article.
If the merchandise or other products are made or manufactured by
a corporation, association or partnership, it is unlawful for such
products to be sold or offered for sale to the public as products made
by the blind unless they are products made by the blind as defined
in this Article.

(b) It is unlawful for any person, association, or corporation hav-
ing products for sale to use the word blind in the name or title of
the person, association, or corporation unless the person, association,
or corporation limits its sales to the sale of products made by the
blind as defined in this Article.

(c) A product made by the blind is one which in its manufacture
and packaging has involved the use of blind workers to an extent
constituting not less than seventy-five per cent of the total personnel
engaged in the direct labor of manufacture and packaging of the
product.

(d) The provisions of sub-section (b) do not apply to the sale,
or the offer to sell, of merchandise or products known as "blinds",
nor to persons whose given individual names are "Blind".

&). '(E) NO MERCHANDISE OR PRODUCTS MADE BY THE
BLIND AS DEFINED HEREIN SHALL BE SOLD WITHOUT
SOME MARK PLACED THEREON IDENTIFYING THE PAR-
TICULAR ORGANIZATION MAKING THE MERCHANDISE OR
PRODUCTS.

(F) Any person who violates any provision of this section is guilty
of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be sentenced to
pay a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars ($100) and costs of
prosecution, and in default of payment thereof, shall undergo im-
prisonment not exceeding thirty days. Each sale, or offer to sell, of
merchandise or products in violation of the provisions of this section
is a separate offense.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1962.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 13 of
Article 63 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title
"Mechanics' Lien", sub-title "In General", extending the provisions
of said section to include buildings, and matters incident thereto.
