OF THE UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION LAWS OF MARY-
LAND.

No. 25

(House Joint Resolution 28)

House Joint Resolution requesting the Maryland Legislative Council
to study the economic situation of passenger railroad traffic and
possible legislative measures for the improvement thereof.

WHEREAS, The railroads of Maryland have for many years provided
a convenient, safe, and rapid method of transportation for the people
of Maryland and for travelers visiting the state; and

WHEREAS, The interest of Maryland and its people will be promoted
by the preservation of a railroad economy; and

WHEREAS, The problems of transit within metropolitan areas are
intimately related to the intra-state and inter-state problems of
transit; and

WHEREAS, The Commonwealth of Virginia has shown an interest
in and has directed a study of the economic situation of passenger
railroad traffic and to suggest, plan and present legislative measures
for improvement thereof, part of which suggested measures have
already been adopted; and

WHEREAS, The Washington Metropolitan Regional Conference has
expressed an interest in the activities of the Commonwealth of
Virginia in regard to the study of economic situation of railroad
traffic and has encouraged the Free State of Maryland to take
similar steps; and
