Senate Joint Resolution congratulating and commending Talbot
County upon the occasion of its 300th Anniversary.
The members of the General Assembly of Maryland are pleased
and proud to send their sincere congratulations and best wishes
to the officials and citizens of Talbot County upon the occasion of
the 300th Anniversary celebration of this fine old Maryland County.
Talbot County was named for Grace Talbot, the sister of Cecilius,
Second Lord Baltimore. It was created as one of the several earliest
counties in the State of Maryland and f or 300 years has had steady
progress and development.
The maintenance of a separate political organization for three
centuries has been a notable accomplishment. In that time, Talbot
County and its people have given to the world a splendid example
of friendly, gracious and community living. Our friends and neigh-
bors from the County of Talbot have supplied leaders in the de-
velopment of their County, their State and their Nation. With
quiet pride, we recognize their accomplishments and extend to
them every good and cordial wish for the future happiness of this
progressive County, its lovely towns and its fine citizens; now,
therefore, be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the sincere
and friendly good wishes and congratulations of every member of
the General Assembly be extended to the officials and citizens of
Talbot County upon the occasion of celebrating their tercentenary
anniversary; and be it further
Resolved, That the Secretary of State of Maryland be requested
to send copies of this Resolution under the Great Seal of the State
of Maryland to the Board of County Commissioners of Talbot
County and to the Talbot County Historical Society.
