XXXVII. This act to commence at the end of this feffion, and to continue
until the firft day of January, feventeen hundred and ninety-five.
C H A P. LVIII.
A Further fupplement to the act concerning the territory of Co-
lumbia and the city of Wafhington.
Be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That the certificates
granted, or which may be granted, by the faid commiffioners, or any two
of them, to purchafers of lots in the faid city, with acknowledgment of
the payment of the whole purchafe money, and intereft, if any fhall have arifen
thereon, and recorded agreeably to the directions of the act concerning the terri-
tory of Columbia and the city of Wafhington, fhall be fufficient and effectual
to veft the legal eftate in the purchafers, their heirs and affigns, according to the
import of fuch certificates, without any deed or formal conveyance.

II. And be it enacted, That on fales of lots in the faid city by the faid com-
miffioners, or any two of them, under terms or conditions of payment being
made therefor at any day or days after fuch contract entered into, if any fum of
the purchafe money or intereft fhall not be paid for the fpace of thirty days after
the fame ought to be paid, the commiffioners, or any two of them, may fell the
fame lots at public vendue, in the city of Wafhington, at any time after fixty
days notice of fuch fale, in fome of the public news-papers of George-town and
Baltimore-town, and retain in their hands fufficient of the money produced by
fuch new fale to fatisfy all principal and intereft due on the firft contract, toge-
ther with the expences of advertifements and fale, and the original purchafer, or
his affigns, fhall be entitled to receive from the faid commiffioners, at their trea-
fury, on demand, the balance of the money which may have been actually re-
ceived by them, or under their order, on the faid fecond fale; and all lots, fo
fold, fhall be freed and acquitted of all claim, legal and equitable, of the firft
purchafer, his heirs and affigns.

III. And be it enacted, That the commiffioners aforefaid, or any two of them,
may appoint a certain day for the allotment and affignment of one half of the quan-
tity of each lot of ground in Carrollfburgh and Hamburgh, not before that time
divided or affigned, purfuant to the faid act concerning the territory of Columbia
and the city of Wafhington, and on notice thereof in the Annapolis, fome one of
the Baltimore, the Eafton, and George-town news-papers, for at leaft three
weeks, the fame commiffioners may proceed to the allotment and affignment of
ground within the faid city, on the day appointed for that purpofe, and therein
proceed at convenient times till the whole be finifhed, as if the proprietors of fuch
lots actually refided out of this ftate; provided, that if the proprietor of any fuch
lot fhall object in perfon, or by writing delivered to the commiffioners, againft
their fo proceeding as to his lot, before they fhall have made an affignment of
ground for the fame, then they fhall forbear as to fuch lot, and may proceed ac-
cording to the before-mentioned act.

IV. And be it enacted, That the faid commiffioners may make a feal of office of
the clerk for recording deeds within the diftrict of Columbia, which fhall be kept
by him; and that the like fees fhall be paid for, and the like credit fhall be given
to, certificates under that feal, as to the like ads under the feal of a county court,
and the faid clerk fhall be entitled to demand and receive his fees when the fer-
vices enjoined him by this act, and the act to which dm a farther fupplement,
fhall be performed.

C H A P. LIX.
An ACT for the eftablifhment of a market for the fale of live
ftock, in or near to Baltimore-town.
WHEREAS great convenience and advantage would arife to the citizens
of this ftate if a public market was eftablifhed, under proper regula-
tions, in or near to Baltimore-town, for vending live ftock of differ-
ent kinds; and this general affembly being defirous of promoting fuch an efta-
blifhment,
