eluded within York, Harford, and Pitt ftreets, and Smock-alley, containing, by
computation, near four acres, which was purchafed by faid fociety before the re-
volution, for the purpofe of erecting a meeting-houfe, yard, ftabling, burying-
ground and fchool-houfe, and a fmall piece of faid lot to accommodate a fchool-
mafter, or fome perfon to be employed in taking care of faid premifes, with a
houfe and garden: And whereas it appears by the bill of rights that no religious
fociety fhall hold more than two acres of ground without the leave of the legifla-
ture, and the faid monthly meeting hath prayed a law might pafs to veft the le-
gal eftate in the truftees of faid meeting, and their heirs and affigns, for the pur-
pofes aforefaid; and the prayer of faid petition being reafonable, therefore,

XX.

II. Be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That it fhall and
may be lawful for the truftees of faid fociety to have and to hold the property and
lots above defcribed, to them, their heirs and affigns, for ever, faving to all and
every perfon their feveral and refpective rights.

III. Provided always, and be it enacted, That the faid property and lots
fhall be held and enjoyed for a meeting-houfe, yard, ftabling, burying-ground,
fchool-houfe, and dwelling-houfe and fmall garden, to accommodate faid fchool-
mafter, or perfon taking care of faid property, and for no other ufe or purpofe
whatever.

CHAP. XXI.
A Supplement to an act, entitled, An act for the infpection of
falted provifions exported and imported from and to the town

of George-town, in Montgomery county,
WHEREAS the act to which this is a fupplement, impofes no penalty
on perfons offering falted provifions for fale in faid town, except for
exportation ;

Preamble.

II. Be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That no perfon or
perfons fhall fell, or offer for fale, in George-town, or the precincts thereof, any
cafk or barrel of falted pork, beef or fifh, not previoufly inspected, examined and
branded, by the infpector of George-town, under the penalty of fifty fhillings
current money for every barrel or calk fo fold, or offered for fale, within the faid
town, or precincts thereof; which faid penalty on every barrel or cafk, fhall be
recovered as directed in the original act, and fhall go, one half to the informer,
and the other to be applied as the fines impofed by the act to which this is a
fupplement.

ninety-four, and be in force during the continuance of the original act.

CHAP. XXII.
A Supplement to an ad, entitled, An act to eftablifh a market
at the market-houfe in Chefter-town, in Kent county, and for

the regulation of the faid market.
WHEREAS it is reprefented to this general affembly, that by the origi-
nal act to which this is a fupplement there is no effectual or direct
mode pointed out by means of which the fines, penalties and for-
feitures, to be impofed or incurred in confequence of a violation or infringement
of the faid original act, can or may be recovered, and that the faid original act,
in other refpects, wants aid and amendment; therefore,

II. Be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That from and after
the firft day of April next it fhall be the duty of the clerk of the faid market to
try, by ftandard, the weight of butter, and fuch other articles of provifion as are
generally brought to market made up at a ftated weight, and it they fhall be
found deficient in weight, the fame to feize and fell to the higheft bidder.
