IV. And provided alfo, That nothing in this act fhall be conftrued fo as to
repeal, or in any manner affect, the power given to the commiffioners of Balti-
more-town to make annual lotteries, by an act paffed at November feffion laft,
entitled, An act fupplementary to an act, entitled, An act for the more effectual
paving the ftreets of Baltimore-town, in Baltimore county, and for other pur-
pofes.

V. And be it enacted, That this act fhall commence on the firft day of June
next, and continue from thence for three years, and to the end of the next feffion
of affembly which fhall happen thereafter.

A Supplement to the ad, entitled, An act concerning the territo-
ry of Columbia, and the city of Wafhington.

WHEREAS doubts have arifen upon the act to which this is a fupple-
ment, whether it be effential to the validity of deeds and other con-
veyances of lands in that part of the territory of Columbia which lies
within this ftate, that the fame be recorded in the manner prefcribed by the laws
of this ftate before the paffage of the faid act; to remove which doubts,

Preamble.

II. Be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That all deeds and
other conveyances of lands lying within the faid territory, and recorded agreea-
bly to the diredions and provisions of the faid act by the clerk appointed in the
manner therein provided for the recording of deeds within the faid territory, fhall
be as good, valid and fufficient, in law, for the purpofe of paffing the eftates
therein mentioned, and for all other purpofeSj as if the fame were alfo recorded
in the manner prefcribed by the laws of this ftate, before the paffage of the faid
act for the recording of deeds and other conveyances of land within this ftate.

An ACT for the adjournment and continuance of Prince-George's

county court.
WHEREAS feveral gentlemen, having bufinefs in the faid court, an
obliged to attend the general affembly now fitting,

Preamble.

II. Be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That the adjourned

court of Prince-George's county, to be held on Monday the twenty-fixth inftant,
fhall be and the fame is hereby adjourned to the firft Monday in April next, and
that all caufes, pleas, procefs and proceedings, civil and criminal, therein depend-
ing, be continued over to the day of the court in courfe, then and there to be in
the fame plight and condition, in every refpect, as they would be in on the faid
twentv-fixth day of November inftant, if this act had not paffed, any law or
ufage to the contrary notwithftanding.

C H A P. LXI.

journed, &c.

An ACT for the prefervation of the navigation of Rock creek.

WHEREAS it is reprefented to this general aflembly, that weirs and
hedges have of late been ereded in and upon Rock creek, near
George-town, in Montgomery county, to the great injury of the na-
vigation of the faid creek ;

Preamble.

II. Be it enacted by the General Affembfy of Maryland, That all weirs and
hedges already made, or hereafter to be made, in Rock creek, within the diftance
of two miles from the river Patowmack, fhall be deemed, and are hereby de-
clared, nuifances, and may be by any perfon pulled down and deftroyed as fuch.

III. And be it enacted, That no perfon or perfons fhall, after the firft day
of March next, put, place or make, any weir or hedge in or upon Rock creek,
within the diftance aforefaid from the river Patowmack, under the penalty of ten
