maliciously setting fire to or allowing fire to escape in certain
premises or property.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 28C of Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wicomico County", sub-title "Crimes
and Punishments", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, and to read as follows:
28C. [Any one who] If anyone shall wilfully, negligently and
maliciously set fire to any brush, grass, or anything else, on his own
land or the land of another, or shall wilfully, negligently or mali-
ciously allow fire to escape in Wicomico [county] County, Maryland,
and by reason of such negligence or malice the property of any other
person or persons shall be injured or destroyed, such offense shall be
a misdemeanor, and on conviction the offender shall be subject to a
fine of not less than five dollars nor more than one hundred dollars,
and be committed to the county jail until the fine and costs are paid,
or not over six months in jail, or both, in the discretion of the Court
or of the justice of the peace; but any proceeding under this section
shall not bar any person or persons whose property is injured or
destroyed from proceeding for the recovery of damages by a civil
suit before a justice of the peace or the Circuit Court for Wicomico
County, Maryland.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

AN ACT to repeal Sections 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 14 and 15 of Article 23 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Wicomico County", sub-title "Bridges", said sections relating
to the construction and use of certain bridges in Wicomico County
and now being obsolete.
Whereas, In the Local Laws for Wicomico County there are a
number of sections relating to the construction and use of bridges in
that County, which sections now are obsolete; and
Whereas, Sections 3, 4 and 5 of these Local Laws were enacted in
1882 and concern the use of any iron bridge in Wicomico County at
a pace faster than a walk; and
Whereas, Section 6 authorizes the erection and maintenance of a
bridge across Wetipquin Creek; and
