of said library. All sums paid under the provisions of this section
shall be expended under the direction of the Judge of the Circuit
Court for Charles County.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

CHAPTER 624
(House Bill 337)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 47 of
Article 2B, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Alcoholic Beverages", sub-title "Baltimore County—Near
schools, churches, etc.", to define the method of measuring the
distance between licensed premises and schools, churches and other
places of worship for the purposes of the alcoholic beverages laws,
in Baltimore County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 47 of Article 2B, of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Alcoholic Beverages", sub-title "Baltimore
County—Near schools, churches, etc.", be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

47. Baltimore County—Near schools, churches, etc. In Baltimore
County, the board of license commissioners shall not approve any
license to sell alcoholic beverages within three hundred feet of any
school, church or other place of worship or within one and one-half
miles from the corner of 4th and D Streets in Sparrows Point. The
said three hundred feet are measured from the nearest point of the
building of the proposed establishment to the nearest point of the
building of the school, church or other places of worship.
Nothing
in this section shall apply to or affect or prohibit, in any manner,
the renewal or transfer of any license OF ANY ESTABLISHMENT
WHERE, SUBSEQUENT TO THE ORIGINAL GRANTING OF
SAID LICENSE A SCHOOL OR CHURCH BUILDING WAS
ERECTED WITHIN 300 FEET issued under the provisions of this
Article which is issued and in effect on [June 1, 1953] June 1, 1959.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
