92                                Laws of Maryland                        [Ch. 82

Whereas, Sections 24 and 25 of the Local Laws of Wicomico
County confer on the Board of County Commissioners a power to
appoint a clerk and also refer to the annual salary and to the bond
of the clerk; and

Whereas, These two sections are obsolete under the provisions of
Section 202 of the Local Laws, as last amended by Chapter 55 of the
Acts of 1957, which provide for the appointment of a secretary who
is also to act as clerk to the County Commissioners; and

Whereas, For this reason Sections 24 and 25 should be repealed;
now, therefore

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 24 and 25 of Article 23 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wicomico County", sub-
title "County Commissioners", be and they are hereby repealed.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

Approved March 3, 1959.

CHAPTER 82
(Senate Bill 50)

AN ACT to repeal Section 26B of Article 23 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wicomico County",
sub-title "County Commissioners", said section having been en-
acted by Chapter 534 of the Acts of 1937, providing for the
appointment by the County Commissioners of Wicomico County of
a part-time policeman in certain districts of the County and now
being obsolete and unnecessary.

Whereas, In Chapter 534 of the Acts of 1937 Section 26B was
added to the Local Laws of Wicomico County, providing for the
appointment by the County Commissioners of a police officer to act
in the Willards, Dennis and Pittsburg Districts of the County; and

Whereas, This law now is obsolete and unused since there is ample
power in the Sheriff's office covering the duties of police officers; and

Whereas, County officials agree that this section should be re-
pealed; now, therefore

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 26B of Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wicomico County", sub-title "County
Commissioners", said section having been enacted by Chapter 534 of
the Acts of 1937, be and it is hereby repealed.
