(Senate Bill 36)
AN ACT to reepal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 48A of
Article 20 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Somerset County", sub-title "County Commis-
sioners", as amended by Chapter 26 of the Acts of 1955, adding a
new fire company and appropriating the sum of Twenty-five Hun-
dred Dollars ($2,500.00) annually for it, in Somerset County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 48A of Article 20 of the Code of Public Laws of Mary-
land (1930 Edition), title "Somerset County", subtitle "County
Commissioners", as amended by Chapter 26 of the Acts of 1955, be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
48A. The County Commissioners of Somerset County are hereby
authorized, empowered and required to appropriate and levy annually
the sum of [Eleven Thousand Dollars ($11,000.00) ] Thirteen Thou-
sand Five Hundred Dollars ($13,500.00) for the use of the Organized
Volunteer Fire Companies of said Somerset County. The said sum
shall be divided into [four] five parts and paid annually to the
Treasurers of the following Companies in the manner following:
That is to say, to the Treasurer of the Crisfield Volunteer Fire Com-
pany three thousand dollars ($3,000.00), to the Treasurer of the
Princess Anne Volunteer Fire Company three thousand dollars ($3,-
000.00), to the Treasurer of the Marion Volunteer Fire Company
twenty-five hundred dollars ($2,500.00), and to the Treasurer of the
Deals Island-Chance Volunteer Fire Company twenty-five hundred
dollars ($2,500.00) and to the Treasurer of the Ewell Fire Depart-
ment, Inc. of Smith's Island twenty-five hundred dollars ($2,500.00).
The money so appropriated and paid to the aforesaid Fire Com-
panies shall be used by the said Companies only for the purpose of
purchasing and repairing fire apparatus and equipment; provided,

Baltimore City) in which such proceedings are or were pending, or,
if there be no such proceedings, in such court in whose jurisdiction
the property or any part thereof is located, upon petition therefor
filed by either the condemnor or the condemnee.
(b) The provisions of this section shall apply only in those cases
in which the condemning authority abandons acquisition after June
1, 1959.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.
