to [each of the judges of the circuit court for the fourth judicial
circuit] the judge of the circuit court for Allegany County an amount
which, in the aggregate, shall equal the sum of [two thousand dollars
($2,000.00) annually for each judge] four thousand five hundred dol-
lars ($4,500.00) annually. The county commissioners of Allegany,
Garrett and Washington counties are hereby authorized and directed
to pay to the judges of the circuit courts for Garrett and Washington
counties an amount which, in the aggregate, shall equal the sum of
two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) annually for each judge. They
shall be so divided that the county commissioners of Allegany County
shall pay the sum of three thousand four hundred dollars ($3,400.00)
annually to the judge of the circuit court for Allegany County; the
county commissioners of Allegany and Washington Counties shall
pay the sum of nine hundred dollars ($900.00) annually to each of
the judges of the circuit courts of Allegany, Garrett and Washing-
ton counties; and the county commissioners of Garrett County shall
pay the sum of two hundred dollars ($200.00) annually to each of
the judges of the circuit courts for Allegany, Garrett and Washing-
ton Counties. Such salaries shall be in addition to that received by
each judge from the State of Maryland and shall not be paid to any
judge who is a judge on the Court of Appeals. Said payments shall
be made from and after June 1, [1953,] 1959, in equal monthly
installments. [They shall be so divided that the County Commis-
sioners of Allegany County shall pay the sum of nine hundred dol-
lars ($900.00) annually to each of said judges; the County Commis-
sioners of Washington County shall pay the sum of nine hundred
dollars ($900.00) annually to each of said judges and the County
Commissioners of Garrett County shall pay the sum of two hundred
dollars annually to each of said judges.] Said county commissioners
are hereby authorized and directed to levy upon the assessable prop-
erty of each county a tax sufficient to pay the aforesaid amounts.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

CHAPTER 468
(House Bill 472)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 48A of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Insurance", sub-title "Life,
Accident and Health Insurance", said new section to follow im-
mediately after Section 201 and to be known as Section 201A,
making a minor who has attained the age of eighteen years com-
petent to give a valid release and discharge for certain payments
made under certain insurance policies.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and is hereby added to Article 48A of the
