(House Bill 295)

AN ACT to add new Section 42A to Article 26 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1957 Edition, as amended), title "Courts", said new
Section to follow immediately after Section 42 thereof and under
sub-title "Circuit Courts for the Counties—Court Stenographers",
providing for the appointment of an assignment commissioner by
the judges of the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, together
with such number of assistant assignment commissioners as may
be necessary, providing for payment of salaries thereof and re-
lating generally thereto.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new Section 42A be and it is hereby added to Article 26 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition, as amended), title
"Courts", said new section to follow immediately after Section 42
thereof, and under sub-title "Circuit Courts for the Counties—
Court Stenographers", and to read as follows:

42A. Judges of Circuit Court for Montgomery County to appoint
assignment commissioner; assistant assignment commissioners:

The judges of the Circuit Court for Montgomery County are
hereby authorized and empowered to employ, and appoint AND SET
THE SALARIES OF an assignment commissioner and such number
of assistant assignment commissioners as may be necessary, who
shall perform such duties as may be imposed upon them by such
Judges of said Court, or any of THEM. SALARIES AND OPER-
ATING EXPENSES OF THE ASSIGNMENT COMMISsioner and
his assistant or assistants shall be payable by the State of Maryland
CLERK OF THE CIRCUIT COURT FOR MONTGOMERY
COUNTY.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1959.
