Section 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1959.

CHAPTER 450
(House Bill 190)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sub-section (a)
of Section 25 of Article 51 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Juries", sub-title "Qualifications and Selec-
tion of Jurors", to provide that jurors in Baltimore City shall
receive ten dollars SEVEN DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS
per day.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sub-Section (a) of Section 25 of Article 51 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Juries", sub-title "Qualifi-
cations and Selection of Jurors", be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

25.

(a) Jurors in Washington County shall receive six dollars per
day; in Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne's and Caroline counties,
AND IN BALTIMORE CITY, seven dollars and fifty cents per
day; in Somerset and Worcester counties, seven dollars and fifty
cents per day; in Anne Arundel County and Baltimore City, ten
dollars per day, and no extra allowance shall be given either for
mileage or overtime in Anne Arundel County and Baltimore City;
and in all other counties, except Allegany, Baltimore, Frederick,
Harford, St. Mary's and Wicomico counties, five dollars per day
for each and every day they shall attend the several courts of
this State as jurors and fifteen cents for each mile over five miles
for going to and returning from the court, once in each term, to
be paid by the counties, respectively, in which courts are held.
[Jurors in Baltimore City shall receive such compensation as
shall be provided in the ordinance of estimates of said city each
year.] In Baltimore County, jurors shall receive per diem compen-
sation in such amounts as shall be set, from time to time, by the
judges of the Circuit Court of Baltimore County. Jurors in Frederick
County shall receive at least eight dollars per day for each and every
day they shall attend the Circuit Court of Frederick County as jurors
and a reasonable amount, in the discretion of the County Com-
missioners, for each mile going to and returning from the court.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959 JANUARY 1, 1960.
