be set, from time to time, by the judges of the Circuit Court of Balti-
more County. Jurors in Frederick County shall receive at least eight
dollars per day for each and every day they shall attend the Circuit
Court of Frederick County as jurors and a reasonable amount, in
the discretion of the County Commissioners, for each mile going to
and returning from the court.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 14 of
Article 51 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title
"Juries", relating to the selection of the grand and petit juries in
Washington County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 14 of Article 51 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Juries", be and the same is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
14.
In Washington County [, of the forty-eight jurors so drawn, as
provided in Section 12 of this article,] the judge or judges on the
day which they were so drawn shall select and appoint one as the
foreman of the grand jury as provided in Section 12 of this Article
at the next ensuing term of the Circuit Court of Washington County;
and of the remaining [forty-seven] names, the first twenty-two in
the order in which they were drawn shall with the foreman selected
as aforesaid constitute the grand jury, and the [remaining twenty-
five] remainder shall constitute the petit jury for the term of court
for which they have been drawn, and said names shall be recorded
as drawn for the respective juries to which they belong; and there-
upon the said judge or judges shall forthwith order a venire facias,
directed to the Sheriff of said county, commanding him to summon
as grand jurors to attend on the first day of the next ensuing term
of said court the several persons whose names have been drawn and
selected as grand jurors as aforesaid, and also commanding the said
Sheriff to summon as petit jurors to attend on the third Monday of
the next ensuing term of said court, or to such other date in the term
as shall be directed by the judge or judges, the several persons whose
names have been drawn as petit jurors as aforesaid. Any vacancies,
for whatever reason, shall be filled in accordance with the provisions
of this article.
