County shall receive an allowance for traveling expenses of [three
hundred and thirty-six dollars ($336.00)] four hundred and eighty
dollars ($480.00) per year. The judges of the Orphans' Court for
Somerset County shall receive an allowance of four dollars and fifty
cents ($4.50) for mileage for every day's attendance upon the ses-
sions of said court.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 340 of
Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title
"Health", sub-title "Funeral Directors and Embalmers", adding
additional memberships to the State Board of Funeral Directors
and Embalmers and relating generally to the members and their
tenure on said Board.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 340 of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Health", sub-title "Funeral Directors and
Embalmers", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
340.
[The members of the State Board of Undertakers of Maryland as
at present constituted shall constitute the State Board of Funeral
Directors and Embalmers of Maryland, and shall hold office for the
residue of the respective terms for which they have been appointed.
Thereafter the] The Governor, by and with the advice and consent
of the Senate, shall biennially appoint [seven] nine licensed funeral
directors and embalmers, residents of the State of Maryland, who
shall have been actively engaged in their profession for the last five
years immediately preceding their appointment [five] four of whom
shall be residents of Baltimore City and [two] five residents of the
counties, who together with the Director of the State Board of Health,
or some person designated by the said Director, as an ex officio
member, shall constitute the State Board of Funeral Directors and
Embalmers of Maryland, and they shall take oath prescribed by the
Constitution of Maryland. The members of the said Board shall hold
office until their successors are duly appointed and qualified; any
vacancy or vacancies occurring in the membership of the said Board
appointed by the Governor during a recess of the legislature shall
be filled by the Governor, subject to confirmation by the Senate at its
next session.
