Ridgely, employees of Howard County; and, accounting from the
date of retirement, to pay to the said Mary Dorsey Crook and Sallye
Dorsey Ridgely, each an annual pension of twelve hundred dollars
($1200.00), payable in equal monthly installments on the first day of
each and every month during the lifetime of each.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the County Commis-
sioners of Howard County are authorized, empowered and directed
AUTHORIZED AND EMPOWERED to pay said pensions out of the
general revenue derived by the County other than from taxes on
accessible real and personal property.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby de-
clared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public health and safety, having been passed by
a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of all the members
elected to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly of Mary-
land, the same shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 407
(Senate Bill 451)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 255 (e)
of Article 93 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Testamentary Law", sub-title "Orphans' Court", increasing
the expense and traveling allowance for the judges of the Orphans'
Court for Howard County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 255(e) of Article 93 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1957 Edition), title "Testamentary Law", sub-title "Orphans'
Court", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

255.

(e) Compensation and travel allowance in certain counties.—Each
of the judges of the orphans' court for Carroll, Charles, Howard,
Queen Anne's, Somerset, and Worcester counties shall receive the
sum of eight dollars ($8.00) for every day's attendance upon the
sessions of said court. The judges of the Orphans' Court for Wor-
cester County shall receive an allowance for traveling expenses of
two hundred and fifty dollars ($250.00) per year, to be paid quar-
terly by the county commissioners of the respective counties. The
judges of the Orphans' Court for Queen Anne's County shall receive
an allowance for traveling expenses of four hundred and fifty dollars
($450.00) per year. The judges of the Orphans' Court for Howard
